Today we ventured back into Hollywood to hike up to the Griffith Observatory. It was about a 45 minute walk up to the top of the hill but the views definitely made it worth it.
From the top we had a view of the vast expanse that is LA as well has a great view of the Hollywood sign.
When we first arrived we watched an ‘Omni-theatre-esk’ presentation about the universe which was pretty cool and informative and then wandered around all the displays inside the observatory.
Then we wandered back down and caught the bus back to Venice. The bus ride to and from Hollywood was about 1.5-2 hours each way so it really chews into the day. By the time we got back it was nearly dinner time.
Dinner tonight we headed down the road to a place called Casablanca. The name does not suggest it but it is actually a Mexican restaurant (apparently quite traditional Mexican so says our server) – the name simply comes from the fact that the owner loved the movie and hence there is movie memorabilia and posters everywhere.
What I do know is that it was super tasty and the tortillas definitely live up to the hype. Also enjoyed a couple of margaritas because it would have been rude not to ;-).
